Advice I'd Give My Younger Self

Things I wish someone had told me when I was starting out.

If I could go back and give my younger self some advice, here's what I'd say.

On Starting

Start before you're ready. You'll never feel ready. The confidence comes from doing, not from waiting.

On Learning

Learn in public. Write about what you're learning. Teach others. You'll learn faster and build an audience along the way.

On Failure

Fail faster. The quicker you fail, the quicker you learn. Don't protect yourself from failure. Seek it out.

On People

Surround yourself with people who make you better. You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Choose wisely.

On Time

Time is your most valuable asset. Guard it fiercely. Say no more often. Focus on fewer things.

Most of this advice is simple. The hard part is actually following it.
